The leak of some 250 pages of the secret negotiations regarding the TTIP has triggered public interest in the GMO.
According to rumors, this agreement will grant access to Europe for certain forbidden GMOs, while America is troubled by grave problems due to the free trade of seeds and products that are believed to be dangerous for public health. Furthermore, GMOs are held responsible for the bee colony collapse syndrome that is spreading fast all over the globe.
Apart from the artificial sweeteners like aspartam that have been proven to be toxic, now consumers are encouraged to avoid sugar as a large part is now genetically modified! In the sweeteners’ category, stevia is considered a relatively good choice, although raw honey is by far the healthiest choice for all.
Since the end of the 1990s, scientists noticed a significant reduction in the population of honeybees. They have been trying to raise awareness about the bee colony collapse syndrome, warning about the dangerous consequences: Bees and other pollinating insects play an essential role in ecosystems. A third of all our food depends on their pollination. A world without pollinators would be devastating for food production.
But what can we do? First of all, we should start paying attention to the food we consume. According to specialists we should read carefully the ingredients of our food and opt for pure, crude quality foods. This is crucial for our health and for our longterm prosperity, as indicated by the New York bee sanctuary’s slogan: Life depends on the little things we take for granted. So, let’s not take the bees for granted and protect them in anyway we can!
