Honey: A must read for those who eat it regularly

Truly, honey is a superfood, a nectarian delight and an effective healing agent all in one. It is packed with vitamins and minerals, enzymes and antioxidants, lots of carbohydrates in the form of sugars and even some amino acids. So sweet is it that, taken together, its unique combination of fructose and glucose makes it sweeter than table sugar. And remember that it is also compatible with the Pythagorean diet, or the theories of Hippocrates who praised balance: “The thing that maintains health within the body is equitable distribution and precise mixing of the forces (= fairness) of dry, liquid, cold, sweet, bitter, sour and salty”.

Fruit and honey are the best ways to introduce sweetness in a well balanced diet. But this is not all: When you have a moment, hold up a clear jar of honey up in the sunlight and see the golden nectar for what it is. Its amber color reflects much of the sun’s energy which was utilized in its process of creation.

In Ayurveda honey is considered one of the most effective natural delivery systems for the therapeutic administration of herbal preparations and other remedies.
As in all healing systems throughout the world, there is much subtlety and nuance associated with every healing agent “under the sun”. By that we mean that a single food or herb or spice has different healing qualities associated with it depending on it’s source, its specific type, ripeness, exact time of being picked or harvested, what kind of ground it is grown in, among several other determinants.

FoodsCross’ premium thyme honey combines the renowned since the ancient times properties of thyme, with the purity guaranteed by its origin (the Greek islands of Astipalea and Crete), as well as by the minimal human intervention in the substance that offers unusually high percentage of thyme pollen grains. In the case of the honey from Astipalea, the thyme pollen grains contained are over 80%, when according to the law, 18% is enough for a honey to be named thyme honey.

Obviously, the value of this honey exceeds that of a common honey sold in the super markets or the open markets. However, in order to enjoy the benefits of such a special product, you should consume with equal care: do not boil and keep it in a cool, dry and dark place for as long as you want.

Visit our eshop to browse through our limited range of honeys (differentiated according to the origin and the percentage of thyme), their awarded packaging and prices.
