Honey and Garlic for Strong Immune System

In our kitchen there are many ingredients that activate the immune system, such as thyme honey and garlic. In fact, the combination of the two, strange as it may sound, is extremely effective.

By soaking garlic in honey, natural enzymes are released to maximize the beneficial properties of both materials:

Thyme honey, with vitamins, minerals and enzymes, is among nature’s free radical-fighting antioxidants. Even a teaspoon is incredibly nutritious, not to mention that it doesn’t cause a sharp rise in blood sugar like sugar does.

Garlic, on the other hand, contributes to better heart function, regulates blood pressure and fights fungal infections. Most importantly, it boosts the immune system to resist viruses and germs.

The simplest way to combine the two ingredients is by putting 4-5 crushed garlic cloves in a small jar and filling it with 200 grams of honey – ideally with a very high thyme pollen content. The jar should be kept sealed for about a month to be ready for use.

However, there is a more sophisticated recipe for honey with roasted garlic.

Ingredients

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Whisk together the wine and olive oil in a bowl.
  3. Place a piece of non-stick paper in a ceramic baking dish.
  4. Peel the garlic cloves and place them on the paper.
  5. Pour the wine and olive oil over them, season with salt and finish with a sprig of rosemary.
  6. Wrap in a small bundle and place the ceramic baking tray in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the garlic is golden and its aroma fills the kitchen.
  7. Remove the garlic from the paper and mash it with a fork, along with the olive oil and wine juices.
  8. Then pour the garlic into the honey, add pepper, mix well and fill a glass jar with it, which we close tightly.

Keep for at least 2 months.
