Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil with low acidity, highly refined and with a light taste. The selection of authentic Greek precious black truffle and the long wait of many days for the oil to be scented give Foodcross’ Black Truffle Olive Oil a unique, strong and delicate aroma, and an intense flavour with a slightly bitter aftertaste. It contains no colorants, artificial flavouring or preservatives.
Truffle is one of the few foods that are sought after in all their forms. It is a rather sensitive product and grows exclusively in unpolluted soil. Its production is entirely natural and it is harvested by expert hunters.
Tuber Melanosporum, otherwise known as precious black winter truffle, is a highly sought after and very rare subterranean mushroom, and the most expensive among black truffles.
It grows on surface tree roots, mainly those of oak and hazel trees, at a depth of up to 10cm. It matures from December through March, at an altitude of 100-1200 metres.
The shape of the Tuber Melanosporum is determined by the soil conditions. Its size ranges from 1-10cm. Exceptionally, it may grow up to 15cm. It is very dark brown to black in colour.
Its unique flavour begins with a strong aromatic scent that is both pleasant and lingering, and a refined and delicate taste that lingers, leaving a distinctive light bitterness at the finish.
Once a dish is prepared, it only takes a few drops to perfectly scent meat, risotto, salads, pastas, potatoes and eggs.
