The wellness’ drink recipe

A few days ago five people sharted with The New York Times Style Magazine the recipes of their favorite wellness drinks, in order to start off right in 2016. We picked the recipe of Melissa Weller -the celebrated baker at the popular SoHo restaurant Sadelle’s. Melissa Weller says it is her personal way to compensate for the daily tasting of everything from bagel sandwiches and warm sticky bans, that can take their toll after a few years on the job. Generally she tries to eat lots of vegetables and legumes, and drink a lot of wate, but still, a daily shot of her tonic with tumeric, ginger, pepper, honey, lemon and orange juice is her other “line of defence”. So, here comes the recipe.

Ingredients for 2 servings:
2 tablespoons grated fresh turmeric
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
Pinch sea salt
Pinch cayenne pepper
3 cups water
2 tablespoons raw honey
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup orange juice

Preparation:

1. Place the turmeric and ginger, grated on a microplane, in a heat-proof bowl with the sea salt and cayenne pepper.

2. Bring the water to a boil, and pour it over the turmeric and ginger mixture. Let steep for 30 minutes and then strain.

3. Stir in the honey and lemon and orange juices.

4. Chill before serving.

Cheers!
